Nick and Lela Beem met in a theater production at Brown University. From the beginning, yoga was a mutual passion. Soon they travelled to Thailand, India, Viet Nam, and Cambodia where they explored Buddhism and yoga. Along the way, they worked as volunteers to help Tibetan refugees and with the Workers On Organic Farms project. They spent 14 months in Asia and returned in 2004 at which time they started teacher training at Kripalu Center in Lenox, MA. Since then they have dedicated themselves to teaching and practicing yoga with an emphasis on mindfulness and compassion. Nick’s classes primarily feature a Vinyasa style. Lela has specialized in teaching pre-natal and post-natal yoga classes which feature yoga and meditation for pain-coping and recuperation.
